This bestiary highlights the organisms that I encounter while kayaking the bay, walking the shoreline or reading the research — some familiar, some almost otherworldly. According to the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary website, there’s lots to see here, including 26 marine mammal species, 94 seabird species, 345 fish species and 4 turtle species — and that’s just the big stuff. And so, as this blog develops, this bestiary will grow, too.
